The Amazon Glacier Extension enhances the functionality of the Easy Migrator plugin. It connects the plugin to your Amazon Glacier account, enabling you to import and export your website or network of sites directly between your Amazon Glacier storage and your WordPress site. For this to work, you must install and activate both the free Easy Migrator plugin and the paid Amazon Glacier extension.
Once the extension is installed and activated, the Amazon Glacier settings will appear within the Easy Migrator plugin menu in your WordPress dashboard.

1. Amazon Glacier Extension Settings
After successful activation, the Amazon Glacier settings page will be available within the Easy Migrator plugin.
Click on the Easy Migrator menu item to be redirected to the settings page. Here, you must enter your Amazon Glacier credentials to connect the extension to your account. The extension cannot be used without establishing this connection.
Once successfully logged in, you will see the available settings you can manage.
- Storage Settings: You can configure a specific destination bucket for exports and imports, or allow the plugin to create a default one for you.
- Scheduled Backups: You can set a time for automated backups using the options: “Every hour,” “Every day,” “Every week,” or “Every month.”
- Notifications: Enter an email address to receive notifications upon backup completion.
- Retention Rules: Select the maximum number of backups to keep on your Amazon Glacier storage. As new backups are created, older ones will be deleted automatically. Alternatively, you can set a total maximum size for all stored backups.
After configuring your desired options, click the “Update” button to save them.
- Transfer Settings: If you are moving a site between servers with different internet speeds, you can use these settings to optimize upload and download speeds for migration.
2. Export Using Amazon Glacier Extension
You can start the export process from the Export To option in the Easy Migrator plugin menu.
Before beginning, you can configure additional backup settings on the Export page.
- Find and Replace: This advanced feature allows you to replace specific text strings in your backup. Use this with caution and only if necessary, as it can affect site functionality and user access. Changing the site URL is handled automatically during import and does not require this tool.
- Password Protection: You can secure your backup file with a password. Remember to store this password securely.
- Exclude Content: Options are available to exclude spam comments, themes, inactive plugins, and cache from your backup to reduce file size.
You can use these options or proceed with a standard export. To begin, select Amazon Glacier Storage from the drop-down menu.
After selection, the export process will begin, and you will see a progress window.
Upon successful creation and upload to Glacier, you will see a confirmation message.
3. Import Using Amazon Glacier Extension
Start the import process from the Import From option in the Easy Migrator plugin menu.
Selecting this option will open a new window. Choose the source of your backup from the drop-down menu.
Select Amazon Glacier. The extension will display a list of your available backup files. Choose the backup you wish to import and click the Import button to begin the procedure.
The import process includes a final confirmation step, warning you that importing will overwrite your website’s existing database, media, plugins, and themes.
This is your last opportunity to cancel the process. After clicking “Proceed,” the import cannot be stopped.
Once finished, a success message will be displayed.
