The S3 Client Extension enhances the functionality of the Easy Migrator Plugin by connecting it to your Amazon S3 account. This allows you to directly import and export your website (or network of sites) between your S3-compatible cloud space and your WordPress installation.
This tool is an extension of the Easy Migrator plugin and requires it to be installed and active.
After installation and activation, the S3 Client settings will appear in the Easy Migrator plugin dropdown.

1. S3 Client Extension Settings
The S3 Client settings page is accessible from the Easy Migrator plugin’s menu. After installing and activating the extension, you will see a new option:
Clicking it takes you to the settings page. To use the extension, you must enter your S3 login credentials to connect to your account. Without this connection, the extension will not function.
After a successful login, the Settings page will display the available options.
You can configure periodic automated backups by selecting a frequency: “Every hour,” “Every day,” “Every week,” or “Every month.” Backup completion notifications can be sent to an email address specified in the “Notification Settings” box.
You can specify the destination bucket in your cloud for exports and imports, as well as the Storage class. By default, the extension creates a folder named “[your-wordpress-site-name]-wordpress” in your qbstacks provider account. You can also configure a custom backup destination folder for compatible providers like Wasabi.
You can define how many of the most recent backups to keep on your qbstacks cloud storage. You can also set a maximum total size for stored backups to help manage your storage space. Click the “Update” button to save all settings.
The Transfer setting allows you to adjust upload and download speeds for both Import and Export, which is useful when migrating between servers with different internet speeds.
2. Export Using S3 Client Extension
Start the export process by selecting the Export to option in the Easy Migrator plugin menu.
On the Export page, you can configure advanced backup settings before proceeding:
- Find and Replace: Replace specific text strings in your backup. Use this feature with caution, as it can affect user access details.
- Exclude Items: Omit specific items like spam comments, themes, inactive plugins, or cache from your backup.
- Password Protection: Secure your backup file with a password. Remember to store this password safely.
After configuring your options, click ‘Export’ and then select Amazon S3 from the drop-down menu.
Once selected, the export process will begin immediately.
Upon successful creation and upload to your cloud, you will see a confirmation message.
The extension saves your archives in a bucket named “[your-wordpress-site-name]-wordpress” in your qbstacks account. Your bucket will look similar to this, based on your site’s name:
3. Import Using S3 Client Extension
Begin the import procedure by selecting the Import from option in the Easy Migrator plugin’s menu.
This opens an Import window where you choose the source of your backup file.
Select Amazon S3. The extension will display a window listing all available backup files in your connected cloud storage. Select the backup you want to import and click the Import button to start the process.
The Import process includes a final confirmation step warning you that the import will overwrite your website’s existing database, media, plugins, and themes. This is your last chance to cancel. After clicking “Proceed,” the import cannot be stopped.
Once finished, a successful import will display the following message:
